The Daily Bread: 1 Corinthians 9:24 – Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize ? So run that you may obtain it.
Weather: 61 degrees, sunny
I can’t believe it’s almost the end of week two already! Today was a bit chillier than usual, but that didn’t stop the kids from participating in the BLYC Olympics! Amidst the intense competition between the Girls’ and Boys’ Villages, the campers were in great spirits and cheering each other on. We had relay races, swimming, canoeing, and more. We all had great fun! Now it’s time to start preparing for the Sabbath and reflecting on everything that we have experienced during the week.
I picked 1 Corinthians 9:24 for the memory verse of the day because I felt that the “race” theme went well with our big event today. In a relationship with God, effort to maintain it must come from both sides. God is always there, so we don’t have to worry about that. What we do need to focus on is our role in the relationship. If the runner made no effort while running a race, he actually wouldn’t be running at all. Same goes for us. If we make little to no effort in a relationship with God, where is that going to go? Any relationship needs constant tending, discovering, and learning. I’m so glad that this concept is something that kids begin to learn about at Big Lake, and much more.
So thankful that it will be Sabbath soon! Pictures from today have been posted, and there will be more to come! Happy Sabbath!
