One Reg camp down… Five more to go!
AND WE ARE SO PSYCHED!!!
I know it’s the beginning of a new week but I just have to talk about our last few days.
We said goodbye to Junior II earlier this morning but I am still a little bit in awe of how awesome this week was and how much we saw Jesus through those campers.
Picking up from where I left off with my Thursday post, Friday was a little different from the rest of the week.
Sunday night through Thursday nights we have hilarious, action packed, plays put on by staff that embody character values like teamwork, honesty, and bravery. But when the sun sets on Friday, we welcome in our favorite day here at camp: Sabbath.
Many people and religious traditions interpret the Sabbath in different ways, but here at BigLake, we do Sabbath the way we believe God intended Sabbath to be…
A day where we lay our burdens down.
With this sacred light that we put on Sabbath to set it apart, our play Friday night is also set apart.
The story-telling protagonists remained the same as the rest of the week, but this story was not just any story.
It was THE Story.
Of Jesus suffering on a cross. Resting in a grave. And rising from the dead.
So that we may live both eternally and abundantly.
That is why we can claim to be “Loved” as our theme this summer suggests.
No greater love is this; that a man would lay down his life for a friend.
After a restful Saturday we ended the week with a wild and fun filled final campfire. It was our last time singing our theme song with Junior I. Staff and campers alike could not help but be a little heartbroken by this. The relationships we have built with these kids are so real. But we now have something that we all share that will last forever: a God who loves us.
“You are, you are, you are my freedom
We lift you higher, life you higher
Your love, your love, your love never ending
Oh you are alive in us”
-Alive, this summer’s theme song
Today, Sunday, we anxiously await the arrival of Junior II. We are going to have a full camp this week but we are so ready!
It’s currently 81 degrees out and mostly sunny. This weeks is definitely looking to warm up even more into the 90’s! Good thing we have a lake right?
God is moving here. Like a cool breeze.
Come move with us.
