It was my senior year, and my last basketball season. My team and I had been having a great season but we had a tough game ahead of us. Game day arrived, and we were not playing at our best. The other team was up 20 points throughout the whole game, yet we never gave up. We worked hard, until we were only down 10 points with 3 minutes on the clock. Then we were down 1 point with 10 seconds on the clock, and we had possession of the ball.
My coach called a timeout, and made a final play. The play required the pointguard on my team to pass the ball to me in the inside, and hopefully we would get the final basket. We stepped back on the court, passed the ball in, and when it got to me in the middle, I went up for the shot … and missed!
In the process, however, I got fouled and got to shoot 2 free throws. The score was 44 to 45; I had to make both shots to win the game. I can remember praying to God, asking Him to guide the basketball into the hoop, and the next thing I knew, my team and I were running to each other and celebrating, all because we never gave up and we won with God by our side.
No matter how small the event, whether it be a simple basketball game or a decision that will change your life, God will always be there to pick you up, help you come back, and win in the end.
