The Daily Bread: Matthew 28:19-20 – “So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have taught you, and I will be with you always, even until the end of this age.”

It’s Monday: a new week has begun, the Junior I campers have arrived, and the Big Lake Youth Camp staff are ready to take on another awesome summer in the mountains. Just seeing everyone’s smiling faces and breathing in the clean air makes me incredibly excited to be working here. There is something in community, and something more in community that has a spiritual connection. When God is present, Love reigns, and I can definitely feel that Love is here. We support and affirm each other and the campers, maintaining an atmosphere of service and positivity.
Our theme this summer is Epic Life. There are many aspects to having an epic life in God, but I believe that an especially important aspect is living with a service-filled perspective. As you can see in today’s verse, Jesus called us to spread God’s love to the world. I believe that this is done through service. Usually when one thinks of mission service, student missionaries or traveling to foreign countries comes to mind. Truth is, mission service comes in many forms and can be done anywhere – it’s happening right here, right now. Big Lake is our mission field, including wherever else God leads us. At times it may be difficult to remember, but if we eat and breathe with an attitude of service, we will live epically through Christ. I’m looking forward to experiencing what He has in store for us this week!
