The Daily Bread: Ephesians 4:2 – “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
Weather: 76 degrees, partly cloudy
It’s another beautiful day here at Big Lake! We’re already halfway through the week, and a lot of awesome stuff has been going on! So far we’ve had some sweet softball and Capture the Flag games, great campfire songs and plays, and awesome energy from campers and staff.
The verse that I have for today reminded me of our Big Lake camp culture. As staff, we strive to maintain an atmosphere of positivity and love through the way we communicate and work with each other. This warming environment is the godly glue that keeps us all together. It’s easy to forget that something as simple as your attitude can change the way you treat people and your outlook on life. I love that our camp so strongly emphasizes the importance of this, and how engrained it is in our service.
Another thing about camp that I am greatly thankful for is the emphasized state of mind. As staff, we are encouraged to have our own quiet time with God regularly. Of course, it is important that we have time with God every day, but do we ever have REAL quiet time? Like away from everybody, out in nature, with just you and Him? I know that for most people, this probably rarely happens. I’ve come to realize how much I need that time alone just talking to Him. Or maybe not even talking – just listening. It’s spiritually and mentally rejuvenating, and I encourage all of you to try it, even if it’s just once a week.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! Look for camper pictures posted on UltraCamp!
