The teens are here! And we couldn’t be more excited because this is where the spiritual connections get deep. Sure, there are the teen stereotypes: obsessed with the opposite gender, disrespectful, eyes glued to a smartphone. But here at Big Lake we see something else in our teen campers. We see a group of young men and women who are ready to have an encounter with God. Ready to lead. Ready to change their world. That’s what we need. To believe in this generation. Because that which is recognized grows. And what we recognize in our Teen campers is the very Image of God.
The Kingdom comes…
And we’re psyched for this week! It’s a lovely 78 degrees outside and its supposed stay up in the high 70’s and low 80’s all week.
So in review, Tween week kind of rocked… The Spirit was blowing up here at Big Lake last week for sure. And the blessings are forecasted to keep coming down all this next week for Teen I with a 100% chance of fun. 😉
We were inside a little bit more than we wanted to last week due to the thunder and rain storm during the middle of the week. However, the “always enthusiastic” policy of our staff reflected on the attitude of the campers. Even more than I expected, honestly! We had a very special group of campers. So much energy. So much singing. So much laughter. So alive.
Makes you wonder where all this life comes from…
“I have come that they may have L I F E
And have it to the fullest.”
-Jesus (John 10:10)
We experience the fulfillment of that promise every day here at camp. These kids remind us of how God is truly awesome, but not in just one way. In a thousand different ways. Every child. Every heart. Every smile. Is a brand new perspective at an endlessly multifaceted God.
So don’t settle for the ‘god’ others give you. Find Him yourself.
And here’s a hint:
He’s always where the love is.
