ABBA’S CHILD

Abba’s Child seeks to provide a fun and enriching camping experience for grieving children and teens in a healthy Christian environment. Healing and growth is enhanced through a sense of community, group interaction, and physical challenges that will lead to a more fulfilling life.

PROGRAMMING

At Big Lake Youth Camp, the moment the campers arrive they experience warmth and a culture of openness. They learn that it is okay to laugh and play and that to do so is not disrespectful to the memory of the person who died. Fun and positive energy comes through from everyone in our team including counselors, social workers, nurses, our kitchen staff, and beyond. Since everyone who is at camp knows what it’s like to lose someone they love, there is plenty of space for sharing and the acceptance of tears. Campers’ activities throughout the week might include: canoeing, archery, mountain biking, art, music, games, rock climbing, and even fun on the water towables.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Campers can expect to have fun, laugh, play, experience exciting new things, make friends, share, have a sense of belonging, and most importantly, be on a pathway to healing. Here is our informational letter that explains a bit more about our program: Abba’s Child Info Letter.

ELIGIBILITY

Children age 10 to 17.

STAFF

Trained staff are carefully selected and screened to help make the experience at camp outstanding and healing. The clinical staff managing Abba’s Child have extensive training in grief work and are excited to be part of our campers healing journey.

ATTENDING CAMP

Due to the high demand for this camp, if your child has attended Abba’s Child camps in the past, please enroll them in a regular camp (Campership Scholarships are available if needed). Please visit www.abbaschild.org, click on the “Contact Us” button and answer a few short questions. You will be asked to share with us a bit about the camper’s loss.
