Adventure Camp (ages 7-9)   / July 7-12, 2024 / $599

This preteen camp is designed to introduce younger children into the world of summer camping. Adventure camp offers a slower pace and Adventure campers get a taste of everything Big Lake is about; they will get to try them all!

Junior Camp  (ages 10-12)  / June 30-July 5, 2024 / $599

Big Lake’s other preteen camps feature our traditional camping programs available for youth ages 10-12. Preteen campers will not choose a morning activity, but will get to try out various activities throughout their day, including the Big Lake Mall, blob, and Sea Wolf. Evenings are full of fun group games and end with our awesome Campfire program. The preteen camp daily schedule allows campers to enjoy all that Big Lake has to offer.

Tween Camps (ages 11-13)  / July 14-19, & July 21-26, 2024 / $599

Campers will be able to select one activity to focus on each morning, and then rotate through Big Lake’s various activities in the afternoon, including the Big Lake Mall, blob, and Sea Wolf. Evenings are full of fun group games and end with our awesome Campfire program. The camps’ daily schedule allows campers to enjoy all that Big Lake has to offer.

Teen Camps (ages 13-17)  / July 28-August 2, & August 4-9, 2024 / $599

These teen camps feature our traditional camping programs available for youth ages 13-17. Big Lake Expeditions (RAD) (ages 13- 17)

Leadership Academy  (ages 15-17) ⁄ $225

Leadership Academy campers will join our Big Lake staff for the last few days of staff training to participate in some outstanding leadership training and get a taste of several different areas of camp. This may be the best way yet for 15- to 17-year-olds to learn what it’s like to be a staff member at Big Lake. 

Advanced Rock Climbing  ⁄  $653

Take your climbing skills to the next level with Advanced Rock Climbing RAD. This camp will better your climbing technique, plus you will have the opportunity to learn skills such as anchor systems, knots and belaying that will ready you for climbing on your own. This off-site camp takes place at the most popular climbing location in the northwest, Smith Rock State Park. Your week will also include a fun day of rafting the Deschutes River. Climbing shoes and harness provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Horse Extreme Tween 1 & 2 and Teen 1 & 2  / $633

July 14-19, July 21-16, July 28-August 2, & August 4-9, 2024

Horse extreme participants will work on riding skills, horse communication, and ground work. You will need to fill out a skills assessment form during registration and this will help us place your camper in the starting level for each of the areas of skill development. Here is a sample of what the campers will work on:
Riding skills – Level 1: focuses on mounting, posture, and control at a walk.
Level 3: focuses on perfecting control aids at a walk and trot, patterns, and intro to riding English.

Horse communication – Level 1: focuses on establishing leadership in the language of the horse.
Level 2: focuses on ground communiation and basic ground exercises.
Level 4: focuses on ground communication and ground obstables.

Ground work – Level 1: focuses on stall cleaning and the importance of taking care of a horse’s basic needs. Also campers improve their horse communication skills in close quarters and ground control in a confined space, learning how to groom a horse, horse vocab, and safety.
Level 4: focuses on stall cleaning and wound care. Campers also learn horse colors, breeds, and how to harness and drive.

There will be some small differences between what the Tween campers and the Teen campers do in each level, but for the most part they will learn the same basic principals.

High Desert Wakesports 1 & 2  ⁄  $716

The High Desert Wakesports camp is a powerful time spent in the summer sun behind some of the best boats in the world. You’ll boat into a rustic campsite where you’ll spend your time learning new tricks of the trade from experienced and savvy instructors. This camp features spectacular wakeboarding, waterskiing, wakesurfing and even barefooting. It is designed for the fun-lovers that want to sharpen their water skills and build life-long friendships along the way.

Gear up with our sweet bikes, or bring your own, for this time of riding high alpine trails and rugged desert tracks. With top quality instruction, you will be taught the skills you need to become a legend!—or at least a much stronger rider.

Rock Climbing RAD is an introduction to some of the best climbing in the country. Learn the basics of safe climbing at Smith Rock State Park and enjoy an awesome tent camping experience. Not to be taken lightly, this camp stretches even our fittest campers. It shouldn’t be attempted unless you are in good shape. Our wakesports camps have it all: waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, barefooting and other new and exciting wake sports! Spend your mornings and afternoons enjoying the clear waters of Big Lake while trying out a variety of exciting water wake sports. Our experienced instructors are prepared to help you achieve your wake sport goals.

Epic rapids, immense flat-water pools, and surprising adventures fill each and every moment while you learn venerable buccaneering skills on the Deschutes River. Let our experienced Swift Water Guides take you on an exhilarating journey through the basics of learning to tame gnarly water and burly waves. Outfitted by River Drifters out of Maupin, OR, our experienced RAD camp staff will guide two rafts down 100 miles of the Deschutes River, ending at the Columbia River. Tent camp along the way!

Family Camp makes it possible for your family to truly have a vacation from planning meals or activities. Our family camp includes 4 nights and 5 days of outdoor fun, meals, and programming. Each day you have the option to play in the water and on land, and compete in canoe races, horseshoe, or basketball shoot-outs. You and your family can sail across our pristine lake, use our latest water-ski/wakeboard equipment, hike up the Pacific Crest Trail, mountain bike, and horseback ride. You and your family can participate in activities together, or we offer free child care for kids ages 4-6. To top off the day, join us for an evening program of singing, awards, and plays. The cost of Family Camp includes meals, activities, and accommodations. Our meals are vegetarian, homemade, and delicious. Reside with your family in a range of accommodations in one of our rustic A-frame cabins, new cabins, tents, or your own RV. Family Camp is a great, affordable way to enjoy nature, experience outdoor activities, and reconnect with your family. Come join us for this exciting adventure!

Check-in for Family Camp is before supper on your first day of camp. No bus transportation is available during Family Camps.

  • Options for overnight lodging include the forest service campground across the lake, Black Butte Ranch, Camp Sherman, Suttle Lake Resort, or  staying in the town of Sisters, Oregon which are all within a 30-minute drive from camp
